PBHL 205 Biostatistical Methods for Epidemiology and Surveillance
This course introduces students to applied biostatistical methods used in public health practice. Students learn how to categorize and summarize health data, calculate and interpret basic measures of disease occurrence, and visualize patterns of illness using epidemic curves. Emphasis is placed on interpreting epidemiological data, understanding public health data sources, and applying ethical principles related to data collection. Students are also introduced to electronic case reporting and its role in disease surveillance and outbreak response.
