Program Description
The Law Enforcement Training Program prepares students for entry-level careers in policing and public safety. This comprehensive program provides instruction in criminal law, constitutional law, patrol procedures, investigations, report writing, emergency response, defensive tactics, firearms safety, and community-oriented policing. Students gain both classroom knowledge and hands-on training designed to meet state peace officer licensing standards. Emphasis is placed on ethical decision-making, professionalism, cultural awareness, and effective communication to serve diverse communities with integrity and accountability. Graduates are prepared to pursue certification and employment as peace officers, deputy sheriffs, tribal police officers, or other law enforcement professionals. The last semester of the program student have the option to complete the Peace Officer Training Certificate.
Career Outlook
Graduates are prepared for entry-level positions with municipal police departments, county sheriff’s offices, tribal law enforcement agencies, and other public safety organizations. Employment opportunities remain steady as communities continue to prioritize crime prevention and community policing. With experience and additional training, graduates may pursue advancement into specialized or supervisory roles.
