ELEC 235 Motor Controls & Motors
Students will learn about the construction, operation, and characteristics of various motor types, including DC motors, induction motors, and synchronous motors. The course will cover topics such as motor selection, sizing, and applications. A significant portion of the course focuses on motor controls, including starters, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and programmable logic controllers (PLCs). Through hands-on labs and practical examples, students will gain the skills to design, troubleshoot, and maintain motor control circuits and systems, emphasizing safety and efficiency in industrial and commercial settings.
