HIT 280 Internship

Students will complete an additional 45 hours of supervised field internship, focusing primarily on coding assignment and insurance claim processing.  The student is expected to assign medical codes to health records and perform the medical billing process for accurate reimbursement. The student will function under the direction of a preceptor. Job readiness is designed to prepare students to get; keep and excel at a new job. Basic employability skills include effective communication; problem solving; resume building; and interviewing. The course is also designed to help participants develop good work habits that facilitate their ongoing success. Instruction typically includes lectures discussions and role-playing exercises.
