LANG 332 Native American Literature and Oral

This course will further expose students to local and regional tribal stories, histories, and traditions through literature and storytelling. A wide range of material will be used in this course and will include storytelling from local people and people of different Native American traditions. This course will also reflect on differences in storytelling techniques and literature from different tribes. Cultural implications of stories will be discussed and evaluated as well as differences between written literature and oration in communicating stories. Contemporary and historical literature will also be examined from a variety of Native authors and storytellers.
