POLS 284 Federal Indian Policy I 1789-1871

This course addresses both Indigenous and Western political worldviews. Topics studied apply to pre-colonial America, the American Revolution and governance, and the formative years of federal Indian policies. The course uses various cultural ways of knowing related to concepts of tribal identity, Indian education, Indigenous land issues, tribal sovereignty and other topics related to the unique political relationship that Native Nations have with the United States.
