Program Description
TMC'S CDL curriculum will provide students with competencies and skills necessary in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT) requirements as listed in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulation (FMCSR; 49 CFR Part 380 Subpart F) to assist students in obtaining a North Dakota Class 'A' Commercial Driver's License (CDL). Students gain a working knowledge of a tractor trailer through a combination of classroom, simulation, and hands on behind the wheel training.

There are various jobs available in this field such as: Long-Haul Cargo Truck Driver, Local Truck Driver, Bus Driver, Heavy Equipment Hauling, Dispatcher, and Truck Driving School Instructors.

Admissions Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Complete a TMC application for admissions
- Copy of current North Dakota Driver’s License
- Submit a copy of Birth Certificate
- Submit a current Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Examiner’s Certificate (MEC) and wallet card
- Complete DOT Drug Analysis Screen
- Students will be required to complete two drug tests in the program. The first drug test will be completed within the first 2 weeks of the program/semester start date. The second drug test is a prerequisite for CDL 105 Novice CDL Training/Lab and will be completed on the first day of CDL 105. Students who do not pass or complete the drug test must drop from the CDL program. This is a requirement by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulation (FMCSR; 49 CFR Part 40 Subpart F) along with the Department of Transportation (DOT).
