Program Description
The Medication Aide Certificate Program prepares students to safely administer medications under the supervision of a licensed nurse in long-term care and assisted living settings. The program provides instruction in medication administration procedures, dosage calculation, infection control, documentation, legal and ethical responsibilities, and observation and reporting of resident responses to medications. Students develop competency through classroom learning, skills practice, and supervised clinical experience. Upon successful completion, graduates are eligible to take the state-approved competency examination for Medication Aides and pursue employment in approved healthcare facilities. This certificate also serves as a foundation for individuals seeking further education in nursing or allied health professions.
