Program Description

The Medical Coding & Billing Certificate program is to provide a quality curriculum- based training program centered in Medical Billing and Coding profession, preparing students for entry-level positions as a Certified Medical Billing Coding Specialist. Upon completion of the training program, along with the internship/hands-on experience, the student will be eligible to complete the Medical Billing & Coding Specialist (CBCS) certification exam administered through:

Career Outlook

A Certified Medical Billing & Coding Specialist, by academic and practical education, are qualified to assign codes for diagnoses and procedures for medical claims that are submitted for reimbursement by third party payors. This includes gathering and reviewing medical records for all legal requirements that prevent fraud and abuse. Medial Billing and Coding are essential to hospitals, physician officer, surgery center, nursing homes, home healthcare agencies, mental health and rehabilitation facilities.
